Études thématiques
Parmi les étapes de la préparation de L’État des ressources génétiques forestières dans le monde, il était prévu qu’une série d’études thématiques soient produites sous la coordination de la FAO. Ces études thématiques avaient pour objectif de réviser les connaissances disponibles et les expériences de réponses aux questions et aux tendances observées, et d’identifier les actions nécessaires ainsi que les besoins et les priorités dans le domaine de la recherche. Les études thématiques ont été élaborées en collaboration avec Bioversity International, le Centre mondial d’agroforesterie et un important groupe de scientifiques et d’experts internationaux. Les principales conclusions des sept études thématiques ont été publiées dans un numéro spécial de Forest Ecology and Management (en accès libre).
Genetic considerations in ecosystem restoration using native tree species
This study reviews the role of genetic considerations in a wide range of ecosystem restoration activities involving trees. It evaluates how different approaches take, or could take, genetic aspects into account, thereby leading to the identification and selection of the most appropriate methods. The study includes a review and syntheses of experience and results, an analysis of successes and failures in various systems, and definitions of best practices including genetic aspects. It also identifies knowledge gaps and needs for further research and development efforts.

Global Forest Genetic Resources: Taking Stock
