Advancing forest sustainability and climate resilience through an enhanced forest monitoring system

Overview

This event will highlight Indonesia's forest policies through the launch of The State of Indonesia`s Forests 2024 report and present SIMONTANA, Indonesia's national forest monitoring system.

The State of Indonesia's Forests (SOIFO) 2024 report will focus on the sustainability of Indonesia's forest ecosystems. This SOIFO highlights the policies, practices, and technical advancements that support Indonesia's forest monitoring and management.

Established by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, SIMONTANA is the nation's forest monitoring system.

The system manages reliable, up-to-date and transparent forest resource data and accurate information about forest dynamics, forest changes and land cover.

Objectives

• Launch of The State of Indonesia's Forests 2024 report.
  
• Discuss the implementation of Result Base Contribution (RBC) achievement of Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 Targets.
• Convey the challenges and opportunities of SIMONTANA, Indonesia's national forest monitoring system, on achieving Indonesia's FOLU Net Sink 2030.
• Explore potential international collaboration to support SIMONTANA as the main tools in achieving Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030.
