G77 and China recognizes the work of Mr. Joseph Nwirga - Independent Chairperson of the Council 2013-2017

The Fao Green Room was the venue for a recognition to the current Independent Council Chairman (ICC), Joseph Nwirga, on May 18 during the G77 and China plenary session.With a warm round of applauses, Mr. Nwirga received a certificate and a plaque on behalf of all members of the G77 and China, who clearly recognize his work in achieving consensus in the deliberations of the FAO Council on the most sensitive issues of the Organization.
The G77 and China Chairperson, Ambassador Elías Eljuri, highlighted that is an honor to recognize the work of Wilfred Joseph Ngirwa who, in addition to his long experience of high level work in agriculture, both in the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania as well as in the United Nations Bodies in Rome, has also served for two consecutive terms as Independent Chairperson of the FAO Council. Ambassador Eljuri emphasized that the capacity for leadership, dedication, constancy and ease for reaching consensus are characteristics that define him.
Mr. Nwirga thanked all members for their recognition.
