Dimitra Community Listeners' Clubs in the Tamale, West Gonja District, Ghana

FAO's Dimitra community listeners' clubs enable rural communities to strengthen their capacities and self-confidence, and to act on their environments. Women, men, and young people organize themselves, share concerns, look for solutions together and take collective action. In this socio-economic empowerment process, the community radios relay information and collaborate with the clubs. The clubs, now numbering over a thousand in Africa, have become stepping stones for change in the field of agricultural practices, as well as in other areas, such as nutrition, health, and gender. This video reports on the set up and launch of Dimitra Community Listeners' Clubs in 18 communities in the Northern Region of Ghana, the first English-speaking country in Africa to have the Dimitra Clubs.
