FAO strengthens the empowerment of rural Togolese women

FAO has been able to strengthen the empowerment of rural women in Togo. Thanks to small scale processing and production enterprises, women in cooperative societies have been able to benefit from machinery, ovens, fireplaces and crushers donated by FAO. Women have seen an increase in income and spend less time in processing and production. Women have also been able to increase their competitiveness in markets with improved packaging and labelling by applying the training provided by FAO.

Machinery donations and training courses provided by FAO are part of an overall FAO gender promotion policy aimed at reducing gender inequalities by enabling women to make solid contributions to food security and poverty reduction.
