Mr. Mamuka Meskhi

Mamuka Meskhi was appointed as Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia in September 2004 after serving as an FAO Liaison Officer for Georgia since January 2001. He moved to FAO after a short spell with the Government where he occupied the position of the Deputy Director of the International Relations Department at the Ministry of Agriculture in 2000.

Mamuka Meskhi began his career in 1986 by working as a lecturer at the Department of Oriental Studies at Tbilisi State University. In 1991, he moved to the private sector - during 1991-1992 he worked as an Advisor to the Government of Libya on various agricultural projects (support to the establishment of irrigation systems) and as an international consultant in the United Arab Emirates State Company (production of fertilizers, Emirate of Sharjah). In 1993 he moved to Europe - to the United Kingdom (finance management) and then to the Netherlands (cheese industry and marketing). By the end of 1994, he moved to the energy sector and worked as a Marketing and Import Manager of the Georgia branch of the Hanwha Petroleum Company (Republic of Korea) till 1999.

Mamuka Meskhi holds a bachelor’s degree in Oriental Studies, a master’s degree in international relations from the Tbilisi State University and a Business Manager Qualification from Georgian Technical University. Other than native Georgian, he is fluent in English, Arabic and Russian languages.
