MoA and FAO Host Agricultural Value-Chain Meeting

The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, with technical support from FAO in Georgia, organized a meeting of the donor coordination council to discuss the value chain component in agriculture.

Representatives from the EU Delegation, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/REAP;USAID/ZRDA), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD),and the embassies of Czech Republic and Netherlands in Georgia attended the meeting.

Nodar Kereselidze, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture, stressed the importance of the value chain in agricultural development. During the meeting, he gathered information on this subject from the participants.

The participants also spent time discussing the most efficient ways for value chain development and reviewed ongoing activities related to it.

In speech to all the participants Mamuka Meskhi, Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia, underscored the importance of effective donor coordination in Georgia.
