FAO’s project to boost agritourism and ecotourism in Tsalka

Assistant FAO representavive in Georgia Mamuka Meskhi, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Revaz asatiani together with the Head of Office of the Austrian Development Agency  Gerhard Schaumberger visited Tsalka Municipality to check the touristic infrastructure established under the FAO’s project entitled “Capacity Development of Agriculture of Georgia.”

FAO project funded by the Austrian Development Agency, has been working with local and national authorities as Tsalka prepared to host agritourists and ecotourists.Improvements to tourism infrastructure and training for potential tourism service providers were also provided.The three routes with their various tourist attractions were plotted on a map. Information boards were installed in Tsalka’s municipal centre.

After seeing the information boards and maps, the delegation met the local farmers –potential tourism service providers and tasted the locally produced products which can attract the agritourists.

Within the project FAO’s team in Georgia recently completed work on the Tsalka Tourism Development Strategy and Action Plan (2016-2021).
