From July 11 to 13, a technical training on Assessment and Monitoring of Land Degradation using the cloud computing platform SEPAL was organised. The SEPAL module for analyzing SDG indicator 15.3.1, the proportion of land that is degraded draws on three sub-indicators: Land productivity, land cover, and soil organic carbon. 

Professionals from the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning, the Ministry of Livestock and Agriculture and the Ministry of the Environment participate to the training. Innovative technologies using field and remote sensing for the assessment and monitoring of land degradation, as well as reports to the UNCCD on LDN commitments have the potential to contribute to ecosystem restoration and sustainable development.

The training includes theoretical and practical presentations, question-and-answer sessions, hands-on practices, open discussions, polls and a final evaluation.
