A consultation on the land cover reference system took place on July 27 and brought together FAO geospatial team FAO and professionals from the Ministry of Territorial Planning and Housing of the Uruguay (MVOT). This forms the starting point for the design and development of the National Land Cover Reference System for Uruguay, as a major tool for LC monitoring efforts, harmonizing existing land cover legends, including included for land degradation monitoring. Accordingly, different levels of the system have been defined, together with the main aspects to identify the elements within each of them, and a UML diagram of the system produced.
