This training aims to explain the conditions, limitations and steps to implementing a national AEZ. It explores the basic concepts and definitions found when working with agro-ecological zoning, and the relationship with land evaluation and land use planning. It also explores concepts related to developing a national agro-ecological zoning, taking into consideration land evaluation concepts and objectives, basic terminology and steps for implementation. It explains in detail the data required to run AEZ, by looking at climate, soil and topography and how crops respond to these data in relation to their own physiology. Examples of national AEZ and possible applications are also discussed.
