EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The data preparation meeting for demersal species in the Alboran Sea was held online via Zoom from 5 to 9 December 2022. The meeting was attended by 11 participants, including scientific experts from western Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Morocco and Spain) and the GFCM Secretariat. The main objective of this meeting was to provide a platform to review, discuss and analyse input data for the assessment of demersal species in the Alboran Sea in advance of the Working Group on Stock Assessment of Demersal species (WGSAD) to be held in December 2022. Information on six stocks was presented and discussed: European hake (Merluccius merluccius) in geographical subarea (GSA) 1, deep-water rose shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris) in GSA 1, European hake in GSA 3, deep-water rose shrimp in GSA 3, European hake in GSA 4 and deep-water rose shrimp in GSA 4.
