Logistics: South-south knowledge exchange
The international community will gather in Rome, Italy, from 25 to 28 November 2024 for the global forum "Enhancing forest monitoring through global collaboration: A south-south knowledge exchange".
The week will begin at 09.00 a.m. CET on Monday, 25 November 2024, with a joint session for all participants hosted in the Green Room. We will start with a welcome coffee, snacks and networking from 09.00 a.m. before the official proceedings start at 10.00 a.m. This session will be livestreamed globally, so we ask that all participants are seated in the room on time.
From Tuesday to Thursday, we will split into smaller groups according to the workshop that you have been invited to.
More information will be provided on Monday regarding the arrangements for these days.
Some important information to note:
- Please ensure you are registered via this link as it is essential to enter the building.
- Please bring your passport to show FAO security on arrival.
- Enter via the main entrance to FAO headquarters on Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, which is right next to the Circo Massimo metro station. See here for further details. Please arrive early to clear security.
- The Green Room is on level 1 in building A. After you have cleared security, please enter the main building. In the lobby you will find a staircase on your left. Take these stairs up to level 1, where you will find the doors to the Green Room immediately on your right.
- For sponsored country participants, please see the information below on collecting your daily subsistence allowance (DSA) which must be done from the Cashier Window at D202 on Monday.

Interpretation
Simultaneous interpretation between English, French and Spanish will be available in the Green Room on Monday. There will also be interpretation services available for the CLP global forum and knowledge exchange on forest monitoring for transparent commodity value chains. There will be no live interpretation for the technical exchange on forest monitoring and MRV.
Catering
Participants will be provided with complimentary morning and afternoon coffee and snacks. Participants will be responsible for organizing and paying for all other meals, including lunch and other refreshments. The FAO cafeteria on the 8th floor of the building has a wide range of meal options and is reasonably priced; participants are encouraged to have lunch in the FAO cafeteria and will be supported in locating it.
DSA collection
Please note that for countries being supported to attend through FAO/GFOI, DSA collection will be available on
Monday 25 November only, between 08.30–11.00 am and 02.00–03.00 p.m. This will be from the
Cashier Window at D202; please take your identification document with you.
Reusable drink bottle
Please bring a reusable drink bottle which can be filled with water from one of the many drinking fountains in the building. You may purchase a reusable FAO bottle from the FAO Shop, located on the ground floor.
Dress code
Please ensure you are comfortably dressed but note that the official dress code is business casual.
