EU revises import tariffs

04/09/2017,

On 31 August, the European Commission announced an increase in the import duty for maize from EUR 5.16 (USD 6.13) per tonne, set early in the month (FPMA Food Policies), to EUR 10.95 (USD 13.10) per tonne, effective from 1 September. The upward revision, which follows an automatic calculation based on the difference between a European reference price and the US maize price, is the result of a weakening of the US dollar and thus lower export prices from the United States of America. The same duty applies to sorghum and rye.
