On 28 February 2022, the Government of the Republic of Moldova introduced a ban on exports of wheat, maize and sugar with effect from 1 March until 30 April 2022. The measure was taken to curb price increases and will remain in force until the end of the 60-day state of emergency declared on 24 February 2022, following the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and influx of Ukrainian refugees to the country.
