On 30 November 2022, the Government of Mozambique approved a reduction in the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate from 17 percent to 16 percent, planned to come into force on 1 January 2023. The measure is part of a broader economic acceleration package to support growth and aims to curb upward pressure on prices and improve household purchasing power.
