Indonesia: The Government amends "Rice for the Poor" Programme

The Government has decided to amend its "Rice for the Poor" program (Raskin) based on recommendations from the Corruption Eradication Commission. Social Protection Card (KPS) will be issued to all eligible households, whose earnings are below 25% of average earnings in the country or approximately 15.5 million households. Subsidized rice would be sold at Rp 1,600 (around $0.14) per kilogram with a ceiling of 15 kilograms of rice per month. The cost of the programme this year is about Rp 18.8 trillion ($1.6 billion).
