Indonesia increases Government Rice Purchasing Price by 10 percent.

The Government of Indonesia has decided to increase the "Government Harga Pembelian Pemerintah (HPP)" - Government Rice Purchasing Price -  by 10 percent to IDR 7 260 per kilogram (around USD 0,58) from the current IDR 6 600 per kilogram (around USD 0,53). The increase is the first after three years of unchanged prices. The Government aims to support farmers incomes, as well as to achieve rice procurement target of around 3.2 million tonnes in 2015. The country's state Logistics Agency Bulog procured around 2.4 million tonnes of rice as of November 2014, against a target of 3.2 million tonnes for 2014 prompting it to import around 425,000 tonnes of rice during 2014.
