Zambia: Downward revision of fuel prices

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB), the statutory organization responsible for regulating the energy sector in Zambia, decreased petroleum products prices on January 15. Retail petrol prices were reduced by 23.1 percent, diesel by 28.2 percent and kerosene by 30.8 percent, while wholesale prices of petroleum products were reduced by 35.9 percent. This is the third downward revision ERB does on petroleum prices since November and follows the sustained decline of international crude oil prices since July 2014. The decrease in fuel prices in Zambia has prompted to a reduction in transport costs and put downward pressure on food prices.
