The Government will procure 1 million tonnes of rice and 100 000 tonnes of paddy from the ongoing Boro crop (November-May), keeping the procurement rice price at BDT 32 per kg and increasing the paddy procurement price to BDT 22 per kg from BDT 20 per kg. The procurement of Boro rice will be conducted from 1 May 2015 to 31 August 2015. Similarly, the Government is set to procure 150 000 tonnes of wheat from 1 April 2015 to 30 June 2015, at BDT 28 per kg from the previous level of BDT 27 per kg. The programme aims to sustain agricultural production and farmers’ incomes.
