The Government of Zambia and millers agreed to reduce the maximum price of breakfast and roller maize meal from ZMK 65 to ZMK 61 per 25kg bag (breakfast) and from ZMK 52 to ZMK 44 per 25kg bag (roller meal). The Government, through the Food Reserve Agency, will continue to make available maize grain to the private sector at a price of ZMK 76 per 50kg bag. This is a result of large national stocks, following a record maize output in 2014 (26 percent higher than 2013’s average output) coupled with satisfactory production prospects for the 2015 crop, to be harvested from April.
