Indonesia to procure low quality rice from farmers

11/06/2015,

Indonesia’s Government plans on procuring low quality rice from farmers in order to protect farmers’ incomes. The price of the lower quality will be set lower than the standard quality rice and the Government will procure the rice using a commercial fund instead of the state fund that it normally uses through Bulog ( the state logistic company) to buy standard quality rice from farmers. Prices in Indonesia reached near-record levels in April 2015 after a sustained increase in the past few months. In January 2015, the Government increased the Government Rice Purchasing Price for the first time in three years.
