Indonesia cuts back on cattle imports

14/07/2015,

The Government of Indonesia has issued permits to import 50 000 cattle which is less than a fifth of the 279 000 cattle import permits that it allowed last quarter. The lowering of the quota is based on demand but also follows attempts of the country becoming self-sufficient in beef and other foods. Last year Australia supplied around 40 percent of the beef consumed in Indonesia.
