Sri Lanka reduces prices of Nadu rice, Samba rice and liquified petroleum gas

The Government reduced the prices of rice sold through its distribution centres in mid-July. White Nadu rice and Samba rice were reduced to RS 60 (USD 0.46)and RS 69 (0.53) respectively. Prices of liquified petroleum gas (usually used for fuel in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles) have also been reduced by Litro Gas Lanka Limited (LGLL), the largest importer and supplier of gas in the country. The price of a 12.5 kilogram gas cylinder was reduced from RS 1596 (USD 12.19) to 1486 (USD 11.35), while the price of a 5 kilogram gas cylinder and of a 2.3 kilogram gas cylinder were reduced by 6 percent to RS 635 (USD 4.85) and to RS 300 (USD 2.29) respectively.
