Indonesia tightens up on maize imports

10/08/2015,

In July 2015, Indonesia stopped issuing import permits for maize used in feed mills as a measure to support domestic farmers and to move towards self-sufficiency. From 2016, the Government plans to allow only Bulog (state procurement agency) to import maize. Indonesia imports mostly from Brazil and Argentina. In the past the Government imposed a 5 percent import tariff and required importers to apply for a permit.
