17/08/2015,

Starting from early August 2015, the Government of Ethiopia has lifted the ban on importation of palm oil by private companies. The Government has selected nine enterprises that are in the edible oil manufacturing sector and rationed among them to import 40 million litres. Major importers of palm oil before the ban such as Get-AS International, Camel Trading Enterprises and Country Trading are still excluded from importing. The measure aims on boosting private participation in the edible oil trade.
