Bangladesh to extend the time limit for aromatic rice exports

17/09/2015,

At the end of August 2015, the Government of Bangladesh extended the time limit for aromatic rice exports, which had expired at the end of June, to end of December 2015. The country has now been allowing exports of aromatic rice since mid-2012, building up a significant market. The measure aims to promote continuity of the country’s exports, retaining the share of domestic brands in foreign markets. A ban on parboiled rice, introduced in November 2008, remains in place.
