The Government of Zambia announced that maize exports of the new 2016 crop, being harvested and expected to be near-average, will only be authorized from the end of September (the marketing year starts in May). With national availabilities prior to the harvest very low following a drought-reduced crop in 2015, the measure aims to ensure that domestic needs for the coming year are met first.
