The Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils held its second working session on 7 -11 April 2014 at FAO headquarters in Rome.

The main outputs of this working session were:

• endorsement of Pillars 1, 2 and 5 plans of action;
• request for the reformulation of the Pillar 3 Plan of Action upon an agreed framework;
• ITPS members committed also to further contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals process and to the different global initiatives and panels where soils play a role;
• agreement on the way forward for the preparation of the “Status of World Soil Resources Report”;
• endorsement of a new version of the World Soil Charter to be submitted to the upcoming GSP Plenary Assembly for their endorsement;
• ITPS members committed to play an active role during the implementation of the International Year of Soils 2015;
• ITPS members committed to play an active role during the implementation of regional activities.
