Global Soil Partnership

Photo contest on soil pollution

On the occasion of the Symposium, the GSOP18 Organizing Committee launched a Soil Pollution photo contest to increase awareness of polluted soils. By showing the sources of soil pollution and making some of the pollutants actually visible in pictures, the photo contest encouraged people to reflect on this global issue: the pollution and contamination of our soils should not be a hidden reality any more.

This exhibition tells a visual narrative of the daily challenge that people face globally in combating soil pollution. Sustainable soil management practices minimize the release of pollutants in soils and are an approach to remediate polluted sites in the future. Healthy, unpolluted soils are the key towards global food security and food safety.
