Strengthening soil laboratory facilities and performance to support evidence based decision making

The objective of this project is to enhance the capacities (equipment and expertise) of the soil laboratory facilities of the soil and plant analytical laboratory and establishing four small laboratories in the field. The activities will include the procurement of soil laboratory equipment, both basic and advanced; the training of national staff by international experts; a tour to a state of the art soil laboratory abroad were training will be also provided and the enhancement of a quality control protocol. All these activities will be implemented under the framework of the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN) and its Asian chapter - SEALNET.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Strategic Objective/Organizational Outcome: Innovative practices for sustainable agricultural production (including traditional practices that improve sustainability, such as those listed as Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS)) are identified, assessed and disseminated and their adoption by stakeholders is facilitated.

Regional Initiatives: Zero Hunger, Climate Change.

Country Programming Framework Outcome 2: Improved multi-sector participation coordination, and value chain development in food and nutrition security programme as contribution to the enhanced food and nutrition security.
