Adapting irrigation to climate change (AICCA)

Activities

The project includes two phases:

  • The first phase is carried out at regional level and focuses on eight African countries, representatives from the West and Central Africa region: Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Mali, Liberia, Mauritania, Niger and Sierra Leone. This phase includes a regional analysis of the climate change implications on irrigated agriculture and of the most representative irrigated systems used across the West and Central Africa region. • The second phase focuses on four pilot countries, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Mali and Niger, which have been selected among the original eight, based on the results provided by the first phase analysis. An in-depth analysis is conducted in these four countries to define the requirements for designing and planning small-scale irrigation investments adapted to climate change. Specific technical assistance and training will be provided to farmers and other key stakeholders. Read more about the country activities...
