Disasters are on the rise and agriculture absorbs a large part of their impacts. Although countries have made great strides in managing risk, there are opportunities for improvement. One strategy is to address the gap between information on imminent threats generated by monitoring and warning systems, and action to reduce risk and mitigate the impact of disasters on agriculture and agrifood systems.

In this webinar “From alert to action to reduce risk and mitigate the impact of disasters”, the second in the series “Risk management and resilience in agriculture”, we will talk about some of the key systems and processes to reduce risk and mitigate the impact of disasters on agriculture, and its potential to ensure more sustainable and resilient agriculture and food systems.

Panelists:

  • Elisabet Fadul. (to be confirmed) Head of Programs and Logistics, World Food Program of the Dominican Republic.
  • Edgar Mayeregger. Director of the Risk Management Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture of Paraguay.
  • Niccolo Lombardi. Anticipatory Action Specialist at FAO Headquarters in Rome.
  • Coleen Phillips. Chief Officer of the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Rural Transformation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
