Organization College of Economics and Trade, Hebei Agriculture University, Baoding, Hebei, China
Year 2009

The factors affecting broiler breed households to participate in contract farming were statistically analyzed by using the investigation data of 201 broiler breed households from 11 regions in Hebei province. The results showed that the income proportion of breeding chicken of broiler breed households increased with increment of fixed investment, the higher broiler commercialization degree and fierce competition degree could promote broiler breed households to participate in contract farming significantly. The possibility to participate in contract farming was smaller with experience accumulation and establishment of their own market channel of broiler breed households. The measures of enhancing the higher cultural level and risk aversion of broiler breed households, and stronger government support (subsidies and preferential policies, etc.) can promote development of broiler contract farming production in Hebei province.
