Objective / Goal The project objective is to protect existing households assets, and improve livestock production, contributing to improved food security and livelihoods of the most vulnerable drought-affected livestock herders and pastoralists in underserved areas of Badghis, Daikundi, Ghor, Helmand, Herat and Kandahar.

Activities

Priority was given to administrating de-worming medicine and providing concentrated animal feed, fast-growing fodder crop, trainings on livestock husbandry best practices, livestock management, animal disease and fast-growing fodder crop cultivation as the main activities. 

  • Outcome: Livestock of vulnerable drought-affected livestock owners and pastoralists in the project sites in Badghis, Daikundi, Ghor, Helmand, Herat and Kandahar provinces are protected and crop production and food security improved:
    • Output: 20 400 highly vulnerable livestock owning households supported with supply of animal feed, fodder crop seed, de-wormer and training.
