Objective / Goal The project goal is to assist the sustained return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in their village communities in northern and north-eastern Afghanistan.

Activities

The project aimed to assist refugees and internally displaced persons to return to their villages in northern and north-eastern Afghanistan and resume agricultural activities:

  • Seed multiplication component : to support the production of improved varieties of wheat seed and of additional summer crops and fodder crops through the provision of seed and fertilizers and seed processing equipment.
  • Dairy programme component: to assist dairy farmers to establish and develop a reliable income source through improved milk collection schemes.
  • Wheat seed and fertilizer distribution component: to enhance households’ food security through the distribution of basic agricultural inputs and resume small-scale agriculture activities (this objective was included with the approval of the first no-cost extension of the project).
