Objective / Goal The objective of the project is to protect the agriculture livelihoods of vulnerable marginal farming households from the adverse impacts of the ongoing drought, COVID-19 and other recent shocks and worsening of existing food crisis in Afghanistan by providing time-critical and season-sensitive emergency assistance in the form of quality agriculture inputs, related technical training and awareness building on COVID-19 safety measures to adopt during farm level practices and market participation.

Activities

The objective was achieved by undertaking the following activities:

  • provision of time-critical and season-sensitive agriculture assistance in the form of certified wheat seeds and quality fertilizers;
  • provision of technical training on appropriate cultivation techniques for certified seed / improved varieties, climate smart agriculture and integrated / natural pest management;
  • sensitization and awareness building on COVID-safe practices to adopt during (a) farm level practices, (b) market participation and (c) routine day-to-day life so as to minimize the transmission of COVID-19.
