Activities

Besides the core project intervention (supply of pulse and cereal seed), the project accomplished other support activities in response to direct requests of the target areas, such as:

  • supply of vegetable seed;
  • support to small-scale and traditional irrigation.
    The project supported the rehabilitation and upgrade of 275 hectares of traditional and small-scale irrigation. This support benefited approximately 1 400 farming households. In the Amhara region, the project upgraded traditional irrigation schemes in three Woredas in South and North Wollo zones.
    Main activities included:
    • constructing cutoffs and retaining walls with concrete and masonry;
    • lining canals; and
    • installing intake gates.
