Activities

The overall objective of the project was to create an environment, which reduces the dependency of vulnerable pastoralists, agropastoralists and farmers in Ethiopia on humanitarian assistance. This was achieved through strengthening the resilience of pastoralist and agropastoralist communities in the Borena zone and Gambella region and eliminating information gaps in the food security sector. 

  • Component 1: strengthening the institutional and technical capacities of Government organizations as well as other relevant partners.
  • Component 2: strengthening the coordination capacities of existing and newly established agriculture task forces (ATFs).
  • Component 3: strengthening drought preparedness and recovery strategies of pastoralists and agropastoralists in the Gambella region and the Borena zone of the Oromiya Regional State (water and pasture management in the Borena zone of the Oromiya Regional State enhanced; privatized community-based animal health services delivery system in Gambella region strengthened and scaled up).
Impact
The overall objective of the project was to create an environment that reduces the dependency of vulnerable pastoralists, agropastoralists and farmers in Ethiopia on humanitarian assistance. This was to be achieved by strengthening their resilience to shocks, eliminating information gaps in the food security sector, enhancing data collection as well as sharing, dissemination and promoting common food security analysis to policy decision-makers so that they can identify policies in support of the food security of farmers, pastoralists and agropastoralists.
