Self-paced courses

Self-paced courses are taught in a 100% asynchronous mode on the Moodle learning platform.

Our courses include modules that can be reviewed at participants’ own pace, so it is the students' responsibility to build their own process. The estimated time to complete each course varies according to the length of its content and the time commitment of each student.

At the end of each module, the content can be downloaded in PDF format for later review.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with the support of FAO Capacitación, proposing this virtual course entitled “Agriculture in Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs)” which will be delivered in asynchronous mode. Participants will be able to review the content and study at their own pace. 

This course aims at becoming familiar with new international trade issues, especially those related to agriculture that have an impact on the Caribbean.

Audience

  • Government officials and public servants involved in the implementation of trade-related public programs, initiatives, negotiations. 
  • Representatives of the private sector and academia. 
  • Representatives of participating organizations.

General objective

To provide tools that will enable participants to acquire and/or deepen their knowledge of international trade, and the main trade policy instruments related to agricultural trade in the Caribbean. 

Contents:

  • Lesson 1. Trends in Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs).
  • Lesson 2. RTA provisions on tariffs, TRQs, SPS and TBT.
  • Lesson 3. RTA provisions on Export Restrictions, Export Duties and Rules of Origin.

Evaluation and passing requirements:

To approve the virtual course an evaluation must be completed at the end of the course. The final evaluation of the course requires a 60% of achievement. 

The evaluation will be measured according to the following percentage scale:

  • Approve: 60 to 100 points 
  • Failed: 0 to 59 points 

Certification

A single certification is obtained for the approval of the course based on the criteria already described. 

You will be able to automatically download the certificate issued by FAO Capacitación from the course platform. 

Please remember to save your certificate. It cannot be downloaded again once the course is finished.
