The 1st Joint Review Meeting of the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme on Food and Agriculture (FTPP II)

28 February 2018; Ankara- The 1st Joint Review Meeting of the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme on Food and Agriculture (FTPP II) has been organized on 28 February 2018 in Ankara with the participation of the FAO Turkey team and the officials and experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, as four of the projects under the Programme has gone operational.

Attended by more than 30 representatives from FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, including the FTPP team at the General Directorate of EU and Foreign Relations, National Project Coordinators from the relevant departments of the Ministry, senior officials and technical experts from FAO as well as communication and operations specialists, the purpose of the meeting was to inform the Ministry about the recent updates on FTPP as well as planned activities for 2020, and to discuss about and identify the next steps. 

Mr. Volkan Güngören, Deputy Director General of EU and Foreign Relations, and Ms Ayşegül Selışık, FAO Assistant Representative, has provide the opening remarks. Mr Güngören emphasized the very close collaboration between the Ministry and FAO, and emphasized that they aim for a more successful second phase of FTPP building on the experience and lessons learned of the first phase, which was implemented between 2009-2015, where FAO implemented 28 projects in the subregion with a total fund of USD 10 million provided by the Government of the Republic of Turkey. Ms Selışık, on the other hand, stated that the meeting will be the first of the meetings to jointly review the progress under the Programme with a view to ensure efficient collaboration and coordination among all the experts involved in the implementation of the projects.

During the meeting, a presentation was made by FAO on the current progress of the programme in general and the project activities in particular. The participants found the meeting very useful and agreed to organize it regularly.
