FAO launches a call to propose sessions for the exchange of experiences and knowledge on family farming within the framework of the Regional Technical Platform on Family Farming

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) invites all organizations linked to family farming to submit proposals for meetings that promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge, and actively participate in the Regional Technical Platform on Family Farming.

Santiago de Chile—The FAO Regional Office invites farmers' organizations, academic institutions, government entities, parliaments, the private sector and civil society organizations linked to family farming around the world, to take an active part in generating spaces for technical-political dialogueand exchange of experiences. 

To this end, we have opened a call to receive proposals ofSessions for the Exchange of Experiences and Knowledge on Family Farming. The selected proposals will be developedthrough the Regional Technical Platform on Family Farming during 2022 and 2023. 

The aim of the sessions is to share and disseminate knowledge from the rural territories, where their actors are the main promoters of such experiences. These sessions may be developed as webinars, training meetings, talks or other kind of events, in order to make technical and institutional innovations visible and strengthen family farmers around the world, promoting the transformation towards more efficient, resilient and inclusive agri-food systems. 

To this end, FAO has prioritized the following topics: 

Innovation and technological tools for family farming 

Sustainableproduction in family farming 

Financial services for family farming 

More inclusive, efficient and resilient markets and trade chains 

Organizational and capacity building of family farming 

Public policies for family farming 

The Regional Technical Platform on Family Farming as a virtual convention center 

Through this initiative, and with the aim of facilitating and promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge on family farming, FAO will offer technical and logistical support to the proposals selected by offering this virtual space. Streaming of the event, dissemination of the sessions through socialmedia, articulation with different networks of technical teams, professionals and farmers from all over the world, and technical support in the design and implementation of the eventswill be provided. 

The period for receiving applications will be from May 20 at 11:59 p.m. to June 20 at 11:59 p.m. (CLT) only for applications using the format available online. The results of the selection will be available as of July 28.
