FAO’s Advisory Committee on Sustainable Forest-based Industries (ACSFI) and FAO’s Forest Technical Network (FTN) are jointly organizing the webinar "Challenges and opportunities for private forestry sector engagement in ecosystem restoration" which will take place on 24 March 2021 from 12:00 to 14:00 (CET).

The webinar will discuss the potential role of the private forestry sector for the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, with inputs from the initiatives being led by FAO and the United Nations Environment Program. It will also introduce first findings of the ACSFI background report which will be complemented by case study presentations from private sector companies actively participating in ecosystem restoration activities.

The webinar will focus on the following key questions:

• What have been the main opportunities and challenges in participating in ecosystem restoration activities for the private forestry sector?

• What are the relevant restoration business models justifying more commitments from the private forest sector?

• What can the private forestry sector do to access and unleash financing for ecosystem restoration activities?

• What activities should FAO and the private sector prioritise and collaborate on to optimise ecosystem restoration contributions?
