The Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism

FAO at the Pacific Week of Agriculture and Forestry

Location: Nadi, Fiji

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to be participating in the Pacific Week of Agriculture and Forestry (PWAF) from 6 to 10 March 2023 in Nadi, Fiji.

The core theme of the PWAF is "growing together: transforming pacific agriculture and forestry" with the aim to strengthen partnerships for sustainable development, focusing on a shared future of resilience, innovation and green growth in the Pacific region. The key thematic areas for the PWAF consist of:

  1. pandemics, climate change and natural resource security;
  2. transforming agriculture and forestry through science and technology; and
  3. creating a circular green economy for agriculture and forestry.

As for the side events, FAO will host three throughout the week centred on the prior mentioned thematic areas. For the details of these events, please refer to the following:

  • “Pacific good practices in Implementing and monitoring forest and landscape restoration - Enhancing resilience for people and nature” on 6 March 2023, 11:00-16:30 GMT+12, thematic area 2;
  • "Agribusiness Incubation Program (AIP) as a potent strategy towards sustainable agrifood systems transformation" on 6 March 2023, 11:00-14:00 GMT+12, thematic area 3; and
  • "COP 27 updates, the implementation of the 'Koronivia joint work on agriculture (KJWA)' and the COP27 outcome on the 'Joint work on implementation of climate action on agriculture'" on 7 March 2023, 13:30-16:30 GMT+12, thematic area 1.
