UN Decade Learning Session: Collecting and disseminating good practices on Ecosystem Restoration

From 22/06/2023 to

Location: online

Join the online United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (hereafter UN Decade) Learning Session “Collecting and disseminating good practices on Ecosystem Restoration" on 22 June 2023 from 15:30 to 17:00 (UTC+2). To register for the session, please click here.

The Task Force on Best Practices (TFBP), led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), was established to support the implementation of the UN Decade. One of its main objectives is to facilitate mutual learning and knowledge sharing among restoration practitioners by collecting and disseminating good practices. To accomplish this, the TFBP collaborates with the UN Decade FAO-led Monitoring Task Force to document good practices from initiatives registered in the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM) Registry. Additionally, the TFBP has collaborated with LIFE GoProFor, Panorama Solutions, and WOCAT to create a common search engine. This search engine enables users to access relevant content based on their specific needs, linking the good practices from these organizations. The tool will be available on the FERM platform.

The UN Decade learning sessions are virtual spaces for Partners to collaborate and exchange knowledge for the entire ecosystem restoration community.

This collaborative learning session – organized by FAO, WOCAT, the German Agency for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and LIFE GoProFor – aims to raise awareness about:

  • the importance of sharing good restoration practices to enhance the capacity of restoration practitioners;
  • various platforms available for documenting and disseminating good practices for ecosystem restoration, including the FERM Registry, LIFE GoProFor, Panorama Solutions and WOCAT; and
  • the common search engine developed by the TFBP as a way to facilitate access to good practices for ecosystem restoration.
