The Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism

The Restoration Initiative 5th Global Learning Workshop

From 06/11/2023 to 10/11/2023

Location: Dar es Saalam, Tanzania

The Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism team (FLRM) will participate in the upcoming event, “The Restoration Initiative 5th Global Learning Workshop” will take place on 6 - 10 November 2023 in Dar es Saalam, Tanzania.

The Restoration Initiative (TRI) unites 9 Asian and African countries (Cameroon, CAR, China, DRC, Guinea Bissau, Pakistan, Sao Tome and Principle, Kenya, Tanzania) and three Global Environment Facility agencies – the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the UN Environment Program (UNEP) – in working to overcome existing barriers in restoring degraded landscapes at scale in support of the Bonn Challenge.

The objectives for this five day workshop will focus on four crucial standpoints:

  • To strengthen the capacity of national TRI project teams to plan, implement, and monitor the restoration interventions under the TRI national projects utilising common approaches, tools and methodologies.
  • To share challenges, experiences and lessons learned during the years of implementation of the TRI national projects.
  • To discuss and enable the planning of global support activities for national projects and present good practices and examples to guide implementation.
  • To provide an opportunity to facilitate effective and coordinated communication between TRI countries, the global team and beyond.

Overall, the workshop is expected to result in a more cohesive and empowered community of national TRI project teams, better equipped to tackle restoration challenges, leverage global support, and communicate effectively. These outcomes will contribute to the overall success and sustainability of TRI national projects and the broader restoration efforts.
