The event, “Summit of the Three Basins of Biodiversity Ecosystems and Tropical Rainforests”, will take place on the 26 October 2023 in Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo. 

The event will concentrate on the United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration and the opportunities presented for countries in the three basins. FAO and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are jointly coordinating the implementation of the Decade, ensuring close cooperation with countries, other UN agencies and their partners.

The major objective of this side event, organized within the framework of the Three Basins Summit, will be to inform participants about progress since the launch of the Decade in June 21, 2021 and to identify opportunities for the countries of the three basins in terms of knowledge sharing, monitoring-evaluation of progress in restoration efforts and South-South exchanges to accelerate the mobilization of financial resources.
