Mapping Together: How Local Leaders Use Open Foris Collect Earth To Monitor Restoration

From 09/02/2021 to

Location:

Join us at 15:30 CET on 9 February 2021 for the online webinar "Mapping Together: How Local Leaders Use Open Foris Collect Earth To Monitor Restoration" on the release of the publication Mapping Together: A Guide to Monitoring Forest and Landscape Restoration Using Collect Earth Mapathons, jointly written by FAO and the World Resources Institute.

Mapping Together is a guide that shows people how to use Collect Earth, a data-collection tool, to monitor progress on their forest and landscape restoration goals. Collect Earth enables users to create precise data that can show where trees are growing outside the forest across farms, pasture, and urban areas and how the landscape has changed over time. By hosting collaborative data-collection mapathons, the guide helps users combine the best-available open-source monitoring tool with the expertise of people familiar with the landscape.

The guide will also present four case studies – from El Salvador, Ethiopia, India, and Rwanda – to show how governments have used and adapted Collect Earth to suit their individual context.
