15/02/2021

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the WWF Landscape Finance Lab are organizing the online knowledge-sharing forum “Turning forest restoration into a sustainable business” which will take place online on Thursday, 18 February 2021 at 11:00 CET.

The webinar will conclude the current series on finance to support forest and landscape restoration (FLR) with a focus on sustainable businesses for FLR.

In this session, a new guidance will be introduced to help practitioners develop bankable business plans that support landscape restoration. Through a practitioner’s lens, speakers will also provide examples of success on the ground to support FLR, including challenges faced and long-term outcomes.
Specifically, the webinar aims to share and discuss:

●    The opportunities, challenges and risks associated with the development of businesses based on restoration;
●    key elements to consider when developing a business plan;
●    experiences and lessons learned from concrete cases.

The webinar will complement an online exchange through the Community of Practice “Finance for Forest and Landscape Restoration” where members can share experiences and lessons learned on bankable projects.

Participants who might benefit from this forum are, in particular: public sector officers dealing with national finance mechanisms for sub-national level; farmers and other land managers, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), experts of local-level finance; civil society, including community organizations and local governments engaged or planning for or guiding others on FLR.
