Indicator 5: The enabling environment for integrated forest-water approaches
Legislation, institutional capacity and economic mechanisms, with associated policy measures at both national and sub-national levels, can create an enabling environment to support, or likewise hinder, the sustainable management of forest for water ecosystem services. Reporting against these indicators can help identify where frameworks lack a coordinated approach to forest and water policies and contribute to increased policy effectiveness within a sustainable development framework.
The sub-indicators associated to Indicator 5 provide information on the extent to which institutional, economic and legal frameworks support the conservation and sustainable management of water-related ecosystem services provided by forests.
